A B O U T U S

Legacies Special Education Consulting was born out of a passion to educate and empower students with disabilities. With more than 20 years of experience in special education, specifically in urban schools, I’ve observed the challenges faced by district and charter schools in educating our students. I believe all students can learn and all students have a right to learn. There are numerous approaches to this end. In order for us to give our children our best, we must be our best. To create a legacy, we must be a legacy. If we can provide an education that leads to graduation for just one student, we have increased the probability that their children will have an education; thus, creating a legacy. Likewise, if we equip all stakeholders with the tools to educate and support our students with disabilities, we have again created a living legacy whose impact can be felt throughout our schools and communities.
Over the past 20 years, I have delivered professional development to:
-
New and returning special education teachers
-
Special Education Teacher Leaders
-
General education teachers within district and charter organizations
-
District and Charter School Administrators
-
Paraprofessionals
-
Campus Security Officers
-
Parents
-
Advocates and Non-profit Organizations
My experience ranges from Paraprofessional to Special Education Administrator. I’ve worked with two national charter management organizations, one of the largest public-school districts in the country, and at the university level. My career has been devoted to serving under resourced communities as an educator, advocate, and speaker. In addition to being a professional development leader, I facilitate the Parents of Exceptional Children support group and enjoy writing and filming documentaries.
